MPMEA High School Solo & Ensemble Contest

Dear performers, teachers, parents and accompanists:

Welcome to Cascade High School for this year's MPMEA Solo and Ensemble Contest.  We want you to have a valuable educational experience with a minimum of distractions.  Please keep the following items in mind as you prepare for the contest:

Before you leave your home on Saturday to travel to Cascade (see directions below), be sure you have:

1. Your instrument (including extra reeds, mouthpiece, drumsticks, etc.)
2. Your instrument case labeled with your name and school
3. Your own music labeled with your name and school
4. One Original of your music for the judge labeled with your name and school
5. The scheduled time and room number for your performance
6. Money for refreshments, if desired

Certificates and judge's copies of your music will NOT be available immediately following individual performances.  These items will be made available to the band directors only at the end of the festival or they will be mailed to participating band directors the next week.  Directors, please check with the office staff before you leave for the day.

Please do not run, jump, or throw things anywhere on the Cascade High School campus.

You may enter a performance room only BETWEEN performances.  This is proper contest etiquette and must be enforced by all teachers and parents.  Please make sure that while your are in the hallways you are very quite.  If is very distracting to play while someone is screaming outside the door.  Remember, we want everyone to have a chance to do their best.  Please be respectful and aware of the people and performances around you.

Photocopiers will not be available at Cascade High School for your use on contest day.  Be sure to make any copies needed before you arrive at the school.

There are two locations where you may play your instrument: the Cafeteria and your Performance Room.  Every other place is a "quite zone."  DO NOT PLAY IN THE HALLWAYS.  You may warm up in the Cafeteria.

The Cafeteria and performance areas will be open at 7:30 a.m. and close at 5:00 p.m.  You may keep your coat and case in the cafeteria but please do not bring valuables or large amounts of money.

You are responsible for the safety of you items.  Cascade High School, MPMEA, and the Everett Public Schools assume no responsibility for any damage or loss of instruments.

Cascade High School band members will be present on the day of the contest to help you.  They will be wearing bright and colorful name tags that will help identify them.  Please feel free to ask them for help.

Welcome to Cascade High School and best wishes for a great performance.
