49 Pages of drill learned and about 30 to go. Good work this week. We appreciate all of the hard work.

For the next rehearsal and beyond, we all need to figure out ways to make our rehearsals more efficient.  I know we all want to be a part of a successful season, just realize that everything you do in and out of rehearsal effects everyone else.

Efficient rehearsals need to come from the dedication of the students first.  Right now, we are doing a pretty good job.  We need to strive WAY beyond pretty good.

Some ways you can help:

  • Don't talk on the field - ever... period...  nada.
  • Don't ask questions during rehearsal, we will cover 99% of the questions you ask.
  • Run back or walk quickly during reset
  • Be aware of yourself, your surroundings and your visual and musical performance during reps.  Assess yourself all of the time and make self-corrections.

Chaperones and volunteers must download and fill out these forms before working with students.

2008 Cascade Sound Show Announced

Follow the Band Show link to read more!!

Wind Players, Remember while practicing:

Proper breathing (with diaphragm)

Put a lot of air through the horn

Always warm up with long tones (be aware of your quality of sound)

When learning music and working on tough passages, individual practice time is required.  Break them down and set your metronome for a slower, more comfortable tempo.  Practice passages 4 notes at a time, then 5, then 6, etc... master it each time, then move on.  Bump up the tempo slightly as you become more comfortable.  Pretty soon, you will have mastered the entire lick at performance tempo!!

The time you spend individually will determine how far we go this season!!
